Sigma Pi Alpha to Hold Alumni Tea

Sigma Pi Alpha alumniCentral Methodist University’s chapter of Sigma Pi Alpha is inviting alumni of the sorority to return to campus this month for a celebration of the organization’s 35th anniversary. The Sigma Pi Alpha Alumni Tea will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, on the fourth floor of the Inman Student and Community Center.

Founded on February 14, 1991 by Ginger King, Karmin Ricker, Jill Sherman, Teri Robinson, and Debbie Chavez, Sigma Pi Alpha strives to help the community as well as create a memorable college experience and make lifelong friendships. Along with their social gatherings, Sigma hosts multiple philanthropic events throughout the year to benefit the community, and the sorority members participate in Adopt a Highway.

“I am often filled with an immense sense of pride when thinking of the strong women that came before me, and it is certainly amplified knowing that this Valentine’s Day marked 35 years of sisterhood,” said Grace O’Neal, current president for Sigma Pi Alpha. “I am immensely proud of all the hard work that has been put into reconnecting with our alumni in the past few years, as these women are the lifeblood of our organization. Not to mention, we are extremely lucky to have such close connections with our founding members, the women that started it all. The anticipation is growing as the celebration draws near, so we hope to see many sisters there!”

Celebrating 35 years since the sorority’s founding, the reunion event will feature cake and other snacks, as well as a merchandise table with buttons, stickers, shirts, and alumni trads. There will also be photo opportunities, scrapbooks, and family line bonding.

Any sisters interested in attending are asked to RSVP on the organizations’ alumni Facebook group or through the CMU alumni events page. For questions, message the Facebook group or email Kensi Booth at kensibooth@yahoo.com.
