Band Legacy Concert March 22

2026 Seward Award ConcertThe annual CMU Band Legacy Concert and luncheon at Central Methodist University will be held on Sunday, March 22 to celebrate the long tradition of musical excellence by the band and the Swinney Conservatory of Music.

The day will begin with church service at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Band Legacy Luncheon at noon, and the concert at 3 p.m. The CMU concert band will perform both during the church service and the concert.

Class of 1977 alumnus and former director of bands Skip Vandelicht will be honored at the luncheon, celebrating his career of shaping new music educators. Chuck Moore ’91, current director of bands, will also be on hand, reflecting on the 99th Band Tour and his first year as the band director for his alma mater.

At the Seward Award Concert, an exceptional member of the band will receive the 2026 Seward Band Award for Excellence and the band will perform in Linn Memorial. Alumni in attendance are invited to join the band in playing Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite. Anyone interested in doing so is encouraged to email Stasia Sherman, director of alumni engagement, at ssherman@centralmethodist.edu before the event.

The day’s festivities will wrap up with a reception with cookies and punch immediately following the concert.
