The Central Methodist University Concert Band will soon set out for its 99th annual tour, performing under first-year director and alumnus Chuck Moore ’91. Part of the Swinney Conservatory of Music, the concert band will make multiple stops across the state over March 4-6.
The band will set off on March 4 to perform at Bueker Middle School in Marshall at 9 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. performance at Trenton High School. They will wrap up the day with a public performance at Chillicothe United Methodist Church at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, March 5, the band will open the day with a 9 a.m. performance at Cameron High School, then travel to Blue Springs South High School for a 1 p.m. show. The second and final public performance will take place that night at 7 p.m., when the band will play at Grain Valley United Methodist Church.
The tour will wrap up on Friday, March 6, with performances at Kearney High School and Glasgow High School, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
The repertoire for the tour includes a number of marches and concert pieces, as well as two pieces for a brass quintet and several solo performances. Soloists for the tour include Wesley Miner, Matt Hamilton, and Brandon Prince, as well as Dr. Lucas Willsie.
