CMU Solidifies Partnership with NCMC

Staff from CMU and NCMC pose for photoCentral Methodist University is now offering a degree completion option to education students at North Central Missouri College, part of an ongoing partnership between the two institutions.

The Degree Completion – Education Pathway is being offered to transfer students from NCMC who desire to earn a Bachelor of Education. Students will be able to transfer credits not only from NCMC but any institution they attended before graduating from North Central. Courses in the program will be offered as a hybrid of in-seat and online class sessions.

Studies in the areas of elementary education, early childhood education, and special education will also be able to be completed entirely online.

“We are very excited to offer this option to North Central students as part of our ongoing partnership with NCMC,” said Dr. Deborah DeGan-Dixon, associate dean of assurance and regions. “We’re proud to extend the flexibility and affordability of a Central education to more students.”

DeGan-Dixon worked with NCMC’s Cassie Cordray, education coordinator, to devise an option for NCMC students seeking a bachelor’s degree. Students attended an open house in December to learn about the program, along with other aspects of the partnership between the two institutions, including the annual Teacher Energizer workshop and the Central Career Changers (C3) Apprenticeship program.

Registration for the first course of the program is already open, as the ED326 Children’s Literature class will be offered in a hybrid format beginning on March 17. Students interested in this course or any of Central’s numerous online programs can contact the office of CGES admissions at 660-248-6651 or mrhorer@centralmethodist.edu.
