A beloved tradition on the campus of Central Methodist University, this year’s Music Festival once again brought dozens of high schools and middle schools to Fayette to show off their band and choir talents.
Taking place on March 1, Music Fest consisted of a full day of performances by individuals, small ensembles, bands, and choirs across the campus. Judges rated each of the performances as either Exemplary, Outstanding, or Satisfactory, with Exemplary being the highest possible rating.
Bands receiving Exemplary ratings included Fayette HS Concert Band, Clark MS Concert Band, Knob Noster 8th Grade Band, Bueker MS 7th and 8th Grade Bands, Bueker MS 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras, and South Callaway HS Band.
Receiving Outstanding ratings in the band category were Fulton MS Band, Hallsville 7th and 8th Grade Bands, Bevier Concert Band, North Callaway HS Band, Knob Noster 7th Grade Band, North Callaway MS Concert Band, Moberly 7th and 8th Grade Bands, Kingsville HS Band, Columbia Independent Middle/Upper School Wind Ensemble, Mexico 7th and 8th Grade Bands, Tolton Catholic Blazer Band, New Cambria HS Band, Chester Boren MS Band, and South Callaway MS Band.
Brookfield HS Band and Southern Boone County MS Band received Satisfactory ratings in the band category.
Choirs earning Exemplary ratings included North Callaway MS Concert Choir, Odessa Middle Honor Choir, Mexico HS Mixed Choir, Mexico HS Women’s Choir, Fayette HS Concert Choir, Oak Grove MS Honor Choir, Glasgow Glee Club, Glasgow 10, Waynesville MS Advanced Choir, Mexico MS Combined Choir, Waynesville HS Chamber Choir, Southern Boone County Choir, South Callaway HS Choir, Hallsville 7th and 8th Grade Choirs, South Callaway MS Choir, Moberly MS Choir, Marshall HS Noctua Tenor/Bass Chorus, and Fulton MS 8th Grade Choir.
Earning Outstanding ratings in the choir category were North Callaway HS Mixed Chorus, Boonville 7th and 8th Grade Choir, Marceline HS Concert Choir, South Shelby HS Choir, Elsberry Choir, Brookfield Chamber Choir, Macon Singers MS Choir, and Fulton MS 7th Grade Choir.
Fatima High School Choir earned a Satisfactory rating in the choir category.
Ratings for ensembles and individual performances were released to the band and choir directors following the competition.
