The latest production to grace the stage of The Little Theatre at Central Methodist University will be Ordinary Days, premiering Thursday, March 23.
Written by Adam Gwon, Ordinary Days tells the story of four young New Yorkers whose lives intersect as they search for fulfillment, happiness, love, and cabs. Through a score of vibrant and memorable songs, their experiences ring startlingly true to life. Ordinary Days is an original musical for anyone who’s ever struggled to appreciate the simple things in a complex space. With equal doses of humor and poignancy, it celebrates how 8.3 million individual stories combine in unexpected ways to make New York City such a unique and extraordinary home.
The Little Theatre production will be directed by senior P. Rob Brown, who has starred in numerous shows throughout their time at Central.
“Ordinary Days is a hidden gem of contemporary musical theatre,” said Brown. “Our exceptionally talented cast of actors will make you laugh and will make you cry as they tell this touching story. This show has been a joy to direct, and I hope [audiences] have as much fun watching it as we have had preparing it.”
The cast under Brown’s direction includes Mariah Nichols as Deb, Jackson Strain as Warren, Emily Myler as Claire, and Cole Nowlin as Jason.
The show will run from March 23-24, with performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. in The Little Theatre. Tickets will be on sale at the box office at $8 for general admission, $5 for CMU faculty and staff, and free for CMU students with ID. Individual and group reservations can be made at any time by calling 660-248-6281.
