Vogelsmeier Named New Webmaster

Vogelsmeier.jpgCentral Methodist University’s newest webmaster may have grown up seeing the school as a rival, but Maddie Vogelsmeier is happy to be stepping out of her comfort zone to join a new team.

Vogelsmeier, a Sweet Springs native, was one of the top graduates this spring from Missouri Valley College, where she was a Charles L. Bacon Distinguished Service Award winner. She was the president of the school’s art club and a member of the Student Government Association, as well as the lacrosse team. She also ran for the track and field team early on in her college career.

Vogelsmeier studied marketing and graphic design at MVC and is now working toward a master’s degree in human-computer interaction through DePaul University. Her knowledge and experience made her an ideal candidate for the CMU marketing team and the webmaster position, which is responsible for maintaining the university website.

She says she is excited to experience Central from a new perspective.

“I’ve had such a different view of Central Methodist my whole life, but it’s nice to be on this side of it and see the people and the opportunities here,” she said. “I think if you’re never stepping outside your comfort zone or going against the grain a little bit, you’re never going to learn. So I think what I’m most excited about is learning the unknown.”

Vogelsmeier, who resides in Marshall, is also an artist and freelancer, in addition to owning a vintage market and art gallery. She enjoys traveling and being outdoors, where she can learn about people and other cultures.

“Any new opportunity to have a chance to learn about somebody or a new culture is something I always try to jump on,” Vogelsmeier said.
