Partnership Reached Between CMU, OTC

stock-OTA.jpgCentral Methodist University and Ozarks Technical College (OTC) have signed an articulation agreement which will assist OTC students to seamlessly transfer from an associate of occupational therapy assistant (OTA) degree to a bachelor of science in OTA degree with CMU.

The post-professional Bachelor of Science in OTA degree is one of CMU’s most unique degrees. It offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students who have already earned an associate-level degree in OTA and are licensed and credentialed.

Dr. Rebbecca Fenton, OTA program director at Central, says she and the rest of the OTA faculty are excited to partner with associate-level programs for an opportunity that prioritizes students’ needs by offering a unique academic experience for working OTAs who desire to expand their knowledge and grow as an occupational therapy practitioner. Already, the OTA Bachelor of Science completion degree is providing certified occupational therapy assistants (COTAs) with a focused bachelor’s degree that offers diverse and dynamic coursework.

“The OTA Bachelor of Science completion degree is a wonderful option for practicing Occupational Therapy Assistants interested in an advanced OTA degree,” Fenton said. “This degree option allows them to continue with full-time careers while earning their degree online.”

The unique degree is still the only one listed on the American Occupational Therapy Association website designed specifically for practicing COTAs. The degree is designed to expand the experienced OTA’s skill set for advanced leadership roles in health care, advocacy, and leadership with an emphasis in building research skills and exploring emerging practice.
