After premiering on the Little Theatre stage last spring, Central Methodist University’s presentation of the classic play The Little Prince is returning for another run this March.
The show will be directed by Christopher Oliver, while Professor Lonna Wilke again takes up the role of scenic and light design, and Terri Rohlfing is again designing costumes. Showtimes for public performances are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 6. The Little Theatre will also be performing for local elementary schools on March 2-4.
Based on the classic work by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Aaron Randolph's masterful adaptation of The Little Prince tells the tale of The Aviator, whose plane crashes in the desert and, while working to rebuild his plane, encounters the curious Little Prince. The mysterious Prince tells The Aviator about his travels throughout the cosmos, and through his journeys, we begin to realize that perhaps The Aviator's real struggle is not the desert at all.
Playing the roles of The Aviator and The Little Prince will be P. Rob Brown and Cole Nowlin, respectively. Also in the cast are Emily Gann as Rose, Kara McQuerrey as Fox, Kayla Wainscott as The Snake, Perrin Dowse as The Monarch, Daniel Ard as Conceited Man, Elana Dodson as Businessman, Maggie Eyberg as Lamplighter, and Paul Reinert as Geographer.
On the technical side of the production, Poppy Garner will be the assistant director and stage manager, while Kaitlyn Bailey is the assistant stage manager and in charge of props. Ky Von Borries will serve as the sound design and sound board operator, alongside Arielle Prince as light board operator. Other crew members include Samantha Cox, Anthony Funke, Dalton Myler, Colton Bowers, Alex Sauer, Amanda Schrivener, Eric Lotz, Anna Geurkink, and Hailey Sage.
Tickets can be reserved for individuals and groups by calling the box office at 660-248-6281. General admission is $8, while CMU faculty and staff tickets are $5. CMU student tickets are free with student IDs.
The show will also be available on livestream for free here.
