High school students interested in the medical field will have the unique opportunity to jumpstart their path to medical school with the January 10 Pre-Med Day at Central Methodist University.
In addition to a full day of events on campus, students looking into medical school and careers in medicine may interview with faculty and compete for the Academic Excellence Fellowship. The top four students selected will receive $16,000 in total scholarship money, renewable for four years for a total of $64,000.
To be eligible to compete, students need an ACT score of at least 28 and a GPA of at least 3.7. Students with a 27 ACT and 3.6 GPA may apply to attend the event.
On the agenda for the day is a 10:30 a.m. welcome and meet and greet with CMU faculty, followed by a presentation on Digital U and Anatomage. Before lunch, visitors will sit in on a pre-med Q&A panel with current students and faculty, and later they will receive an ambassador-led tour with a current pre-med student. All this leads up to scholarship interviews at 2 p.m. and then program wrap-up at 3.
