The next show coming to the Little Theatre stage for the 2021-22 season is Anna Ziegler’s Boy, directed for the Central Methodist University audience by Professor Lonna Wilke.
Inspired by a true story, Boy explores the complicated terrain of trying to find love in a new body, and the inextricable bonds between doctor and patient. In the 1960s, a well-intentioned doctor convinces the parents of a male infant to raise their son as a girl after a terrible accident. Two decades later, the repercussions of that choice continue to unfold.
The Little Theatre cast will include P. Rob Brown (St. Peters/music) as Adam Turner, Cole Nowlin (Centralia/theatre arts) as Dr. Wendell Barnes, Elana Dodson (Bland/theatre arts and music) as Jenny Lafferty, Kara McQuerrey (Plattsburg/religion and church leadership) as Trudy Turner, and Jackson Strain (Shelbyville/pre-nursing) as Doug Turner.
The Boy crew will be led by assistant director and stage manager Alex Sauer (Blackwater/pre-education and English) and assistant stage manager Maggie Eyberg (St. Louis/theatre arts). Other members of the crew, from sound design to marketing, include Poppy Garner (St. Charles/theatre arts), Ben Pilger (Festus/music), Harley Dohrman (Slater/pre-education and elementary education), Anthony Funke (Springfield/computer science), Dale Dowse (Ulrich/business), Emily Gann (Lake Saint Louis/music education), Dalton Myler (Lebanon/music), Kayla Wainscott (Butler/theatre arts), Eric Lotz (Imperial/marine biology), Amanda Schrivener (Kearney/marine biology), Kaitlyn Bailey (Garden City/theatre arts), Samantha Cox (St. Louis/theatre arts), Arielle Prince (Pevely/music), Anna Geurkink (Perryville/music education), and Hailey Sage (Fayette/music).
