After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, Family Day is set to take place this year with events on September 18 and 19.
Family Day at Central Methodist University is an opportunity for students’ families to come and visit campus and see how campus life is going for their student.
“There are athletic games scheduled and academic buildings are open so students can show their loved ones where they go to class and what their everyday life is like at college,” said Savannah Schaefer, coordinator of Student Programming at CMU.
Family Day can provide a sense of comfort for parents and much needed family time for the students. Shaefer says the day will be similar to ones in the past, but simplified a little bit. All major events are held outside and masks are required in all campus buildings. Families are free to explore campus and the city of Fayette, but also have the option to be interactive through the various activities that Student Programming has planned.
“Sometimes you just need your parents to come and do your laundry for you and buy you lunch!” Schaefer said.
