Central Methodist University graduates from the Union location will have their opportunity to walk across the stage and receive their degrees at next week’s commencement ceremony.
The event will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, in the John Edson Anglin Performing Arts Center (East Central College theatre). Dr. Rita Gulstad, CMU provost, will be on-hand, along with East Central College President Dr. Jon Bauer.
Bauer, who will give the commencement address, has been serving as ECC president since 2012. He previously served as chair of the Missouri Community College Association from 2015-2017. He also served on boards and committees as Chair of Mercy Hospital-Washington Board of Trustees, Mercy East Communities Board of Directors, Washington 353 Redevelopment Committee, Washington Civic Industrial Corporation, Washington Public Library Board and past President of Washington Area Chamber of Commerce. Bauer also served as a member of the Franklin County Area United Way, Franklin County Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Committee, and Union Highway 50 Committee.
Bauer started at ECC in 1995 and has served in a variety of positions at the College, including Vice President for Finance and Administration. Prior to that role he was Dean of Enrollment Management, Dean of the Rolla Campus, the Director of College Relations, and the Director of Public Relations.
Bauer lives in Washington, Mo. with his wife, Barb, and their three children.
