Workshop to Energize Teachers

K-12 teachers across the state have a golden opportunity to prepare for the fall with a Teacher Energizer Workshop held on Thursday, August 5 in Trenton, Mo. The professional development opportunity is co-sponsored by Central Methodist University and North Central Missouri College.

The keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Lindsay Oram, psychology professor at NCMC, whose address is titled “From Surviving to Thriving: Happiness as a Journey Not a Destination.”

Breakout sessions will cover the topics of Trauma Smart, Technology Integration, Professional Book Tasting, and more.

CMU faculty presenting at the workshop include Dr. Jessica Z. Taylor, clinical counseling professor, presenting “Trauma and its Implications for Education;” Carrie A. Strodtman, director of Digital Learning, presenting “Successfully Integrating Technology in the Classroom: Rationale, Tips, and Concerns;" and Dr. Laura Lewis and Dr. Alaina Mayfield, assistant professors of education, presenting “Finding Joy in Classroom Management.”

The event runs from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the NCMC campus. Registration is free at https://tinyurl.com/ncmcteacherday. Those registered may earn graduate credit through CMU by completing online activities after attending the event.
