The ranks of Central Methodist University’s alumni club grew by 88 on May 13 as CMU celebrated its western region commencement ceremony at the Matthewson Exhibition Center on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia.
The commencement speaker was Dr. Glenn Coltharp, president of Crowder College. Dr. Cotharp is a teacher through and through – having taught in, developed, and led programs from pre-school through graduate school. At the university level, he served as a professor and head of the department of teacher education at Missouri Southern State University, where he later became dean of the School of Education at MSSU.
The invocation was delivered by the Rev. Dan Page, ’74, lay pastor at Pleasant Green United Methodist Church. Dr. Joanna Anderson, president of State Fair Community College and a partner with CMU, delivered greetings to the graduates.
Eighty-two bachelor’s degrees were conferred at the ceremony by Dr. Deborah DeGan-Dixon and Mr. Steve Scheiner. There were three graduates receiving a master’s in education, and three receiving a master’s in clinical counseling.
