Central Methodist University on Friday introduced its new men’s and women’s bowling coach, Brandon Pierce, and announced that Memory Lanes in Moberly would be CMU’s home when the university’s new program launches in the fall.
Pierce, of Moberly, is no stranger to Memory Lanes. He has been bowling there for more than 20 years.
“I’m on Cloud Nine,” Pierce said. “I’m very excited to be the CMU bowling coach. It’s a big challenge to start up a new program, and I’m up for it.”
Pierce has an extensive bowling resume, and hits about 30 tournaments per year. Forty times in his career, he’s notched perfect 300 games. He also holds house records at Memory Lanes and at Glasgow Lanes.
Prior to coming the Central, Pierce was employed at Thomas Hill PWSD#1 and Orscheln Farm & Home. And he’s no stranger to college students. He studied at Missouri S&T, and served as a resident advisor there.
“We are delighted to have Brandon join our team,” said Dr. Joe Parisi, vice president for enrollment management at CMU. “Not only does Brandon have the bowling skill and leadership abilities to run our program, but he’s got a ton of passion and will be a dynamite recruiter for our team.”
Parisi is equally as excited to partner with Memory Lanes.
“What a beautiful and professional operation,” he said. “The owner, Mr. Robert Penick, is great to work with and loves being around the game and around people.”
Penick said he was “excited for this opportunity to be a part of CMU collegiate bowling.”
He said the venture will help grow the sport of bowling at all levels.
