Roping Duo Contributes to Top 10 Finish

The Central Methodist University rodeo team continues to gain experience and respect throughout the region, after coming home with a seventh-place finish from last weekend’s trip to Magnolia, Ark.

Headlining the results for the Eagles at Southern Arkansas University was the team roping duo of Madison Steele and Casey Roberts (Three Rivers College). The pair finished ninth in the long go, securing a spot in the Saturday short round. They finished fourth in both the short and the average for the weekend.

In barrel racing, Larrya Stegall finished just shy of the necessary spots to advance to the short round, while Kelsi Haller and Kendra Goldschmidt each had good runs but missed the cut as well.

Head coach Amanda Phipps was once again pleased with her team’s effort.

“I have never seen the barrel racing event this competitive,” she said. “Very proud of these kids. they work so hard and are so goal driven. I could not be happier!”

The Eagles will round out their fall schedule the weekend of November 12 with a trip to Kentucky to compete at Murray State University.
