Administration Meets With Students

Central Methodist University previously announced an investigation regarding an event where racially insensitive language was used in the classroom. Today, CMU officials met with students and faculty, as well as members of the Board. CMU is moving swiftly to address the situation and we continue to reach out to our student community to offer support.

It is important to CMU’s administration and Board that everyone feels the tremendous compassion, dedication, and academic excellence embedded in the Central experience. We will do everything necessary to protect that positive experience.

As the administration moves through the investigation and any disciplinary actions, we are very mindful that civility and diversity are cornerstones to everything we do, consistent with our United Methodist heritage. We believe that civility is upholding the values of respect, kindness, and diplomacy in our direct and indirect interactions with others. Diversity is recognizing differences between people and perceiving these differences as an asset to the community.
