Move-in at Central Methodist University is a time-honored period of crowded energy and excitement, but due to COVID-19, it will look quite different this August.
Placing a strong emphasis on health and safety, CMU has made significant changes to the move-in process and created Drop N Go, allowing students to move their belongings on to the campus up to 12 days earlier than the scheduled August 15 move-in day.
Students and up to four guests may drop off their belongings beginning August 3. They must reserve their date and time online first.
“This helps everyone avoid the long lines and the congestion,” said Brad Dixon, dean of students. “We will be limiting the number of families in and out of individual buildings each day, so it is far safer and much quicker than doing it all on move-in day.”
All students who participate in Drop N Go will be tested for COVID-19 that day, Dixon said, and will receive their results within the hour. Students and their guests must wear masks while in the building, and residence hall staff will lock the room door behind the families as they leave. The student will receive their key on move-in day.
Dixon said further information will be emailed to students later this month. Anyone with questions may call the Office of Student Development at 660-248-6224.
