While Central Methodist University has no cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), university leaders have announced that the May graduation ceremony has been postponed. Central, in consultation with student government, faculty, and the CMU community, will set a graduation date when it is determined to be safe to do so.
President Roger Drake said the tradition-rich CMU ceremony could not happen in early May, given the spread of the COVID-19 virus and the restrictions on large gatherings in Missouri and across the country. He insisted that a later ceremony would be a celebration for graduates to remember.
“This is a special class that will have endured so much,” Drake said. “They’ve had their classes moved online, many of them lost their sports seasons, and they’ve had their lives disrupted. We’re going to do our best to give them the graduation they deserve.”
Those eligible for graduation should apply through MyCMU. For further graduation information, please consult CMU’s
