National Champs Honored at Capitol

MSoc-1.JPGThe victory tour for the back-to-back national champion Central Methodist University men’s soccer team continued this week, as the Eagles traveled the State Capitol to be recognized by members of the Missouri Senate and the Missouri House of Representatives.

Coach Alex Nichols and the players arrived in Jefferson City on Wednesday morning and were greeted by Senators Caleb Rowden (R-Columbia) and Denny Hoskins (R-Warrensburg) before having photos taken on the Senate floor. There, Sen. Hoskins presented Nichols with a framed copy of a resolution recognizing the team’s accomplishments.

The team then visited the House of Representatives, where Representative Dave Muntzel (R-Boonville) presented another resolution to Nichols, Vince Gelei (Dunakeszi, Hungary), Victor Luengo (Madrid, Spain), Marcos German (Madrid, Spain), and Junior Kazeem (London, England) on the House floor.

Rep. Muntzel recognized the entire team in front of the rest of the House members, as Sen. Hoskins later did to members of the Senate when the team returned to the Senate floor.

Team members were photographed in various parts of the Capitol during the visit and then wrapped up the trip with lunch at Jefferson City restaurant Prison Brews.MSoc-2.JPG
