Casts Announced for Spring Productions

The theatre schedule for the Spring 2020 semester is set, and auditions are complete for the final two productions of the year. Dr. Mark Kelty, professor and director of theatre, released the cast lists for Love/Sick and Rabbit Hole on January 20, following auditions during the first week students were back on campus.

Love/Sick, which debuts in The Little Theatre at 4:30 p.m. on March 5, includes a series of nine short plays written by John Cariani. The CMU production will be directed by Myriah Araiza, with Anna Geurkink serving as assistant director.

“Set on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality, this 80-minute romp explores the pain and the joy that comes with being in love,” the synopsis states.

Each of the nine short skits will be portrayed by a pair of Central actors, in the following order:

  • Obsessive/Impulsive – Catherine Barnard as Woman and Zach Barnes as Man
  • The Singing Telegram – Kayla Wainscott as Louise and Dominique Jordan as Singing Telegram Man
  • What?!? – Zach Barnes as Ben and Rob Brown as Andy
  • The Answer – Catherine Barnard as Celia and Rob Brown as Keith
  • Uh-Oh – Jenny Barnett as Sarah and Eric Lotz as Bill

After the March 5 show, Love/Sick will continue to run through March 8, showing at 7:30 p.m. on the 6th and 7th, and at 1:30 p.m. for the final production.

Four of the previously named actors will also play roles in the April show, Rabbit Hole. Written by David Lindsay-Abaire and directed for The Little Theatre by Dr. Kelty, the show will run from April 23-26.

Barnard will portray Becca, Brown will play Howie, Sage was cast as Izzy, Asi will play Nat, and Sam Priddy was cast as Jason.

Lighting and scene design for both shows will be done by Lonna Wilke, with Terri Rohlfing on costume design. Paul Byland is the scene shop foreman.
