Winter Concert to Feature Band, Choirs

The Central Methodist University Winter Band and Choir Concert is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, December 8 and will feature songs by the CMU band, Chorale and the Conservatory Singers.

The groups will perform at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church, with the band directed by Skip Vandelicht, Chorale led by Claude Westfall, and the Conservatory Singers under conductor Laura Wiebe.

On the program for the Conservatory Singers are songs such as “Brightest and Best,” “Joy,” “Lovely Child, Holy Child,” and “Good King Kong Looked Out.” Student conductor Keaton Denney will be conducting the singers in the latter.

The band will perform a number of pieces, including “Basses on a Rampage,” “A Trombone Family Reunion,” “Greensleeves,” “Ride,” and “Rest.”

Songs to be performed by the Chorale – with Dr. Melissa Simons on the piano – include “O Radiant Dawn,” “Ding, Dong! Merrily on High!,” “Pure Imagination,” “All Creatures of Our God and King,” and “Glory Hallelujah to the Newborn King.”

The event is free of charge and open to the public.
