Another Central Methodist University academic year is just around the corner and with it comes an array of activities to welcome students back to campus.
Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 19 and several events are on tap that first week including Opening Convocation and a dinner for students at the university’s president’s home.
The 16th annual Fair on the Square is set for 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. Surrounding the Courthouse Square, the activities help students get to know other students, churches, merchants, and members of the community of Fayette. Games and activities for children of all ages will be set up around the courthouse.
Students will have a barbecue-style gathering, provided by CMU’s Fresh Ideas, and will meet members of fraternities and sororities, listen to music, and collect giveaways. There will be a snow cone machine, inflatables, and more.
Community connected groups in and around Fayette and Howard County are invited to bring a couple of tables and chairs, some brochures, and perhaps some giveaways, and get to know the new and returning students. To register, please call Jakob Junker, coordinator of student life, at 660-248-6225 or email jjunker@centralmethodist.edu.
