Rumsey, Buyck Named 19-20 Student Government Leaders

The students at Central Methodist University’s Fayette campus have spoken, and a new Student Government Association (SGA) president and vice president have been elected for the 2019-20 academic year.

Taylor Rumsey, a junior accounting and banking/finance double major from Higginsville, was elected president, and Rachel Buyck, a junior business major from Liberty, Ill. will take over as vice president.

“We are very excited to serve the student body and for the opportunity to take on such big leadership roles at Central,” Rumsey said. “Our goals include continuing to make campus improvements, increasing the involvement of SGA around campus, and enhancing the student experience here.”

Rumsey served as SGA vice president during the 2018-19 academic year, so has plenty of experience under her belt. She also is a volleyball player at Central. In addition to these activities, she keeps busy as the secretary of Kappa Beta Gamma, and as a member of the Honors Program, National Society of Leadership and Success, Champions of Character, and Enactus.

Buyck also has quite a full schedule of involvements. She is a Student Leader for the Navigators campus ministry, a career resource assistant for Central’s Career Development Center, and volunteers at Coyote Hill Christian Children’s Home.

Both student leaders are on track to graduate in May of 2020.
