Central Methodist University’s annual Founders Weekend will be held Friday through Sunday, May 3-5. A number of activities will fill the weekend including honors for distinguished alumni, a Hall of Sponsors scholarship unveiling, and the welcoming of visiting alumni and friends of the University.
The central celebration of the weekend is always the conferring of the Distinguished Alumni Awards, honoring former students who have made a major impact on the world around them.
This year’s Distinguished Alumni Award honorees are C. Wayne Schoolfield, class of 1965; Yolanda Frederick-Thompson, class of 1988; Mark Calvert, class of 1988; and Christina (Thompson) Shutt, class of 2008, the Young Alumni awardee.
New Hall of Sponsors Scholarship unveilings include the Dr. Dan and Maggie Elliott Hall of Sponsors Scholarship, the Dr. Becky Enochs Hall of Sponsors Scholarship, and the Christina Finlayson Dana Hall of Sponsors Scholarship.
The Ashby-Hodge Gallery will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and will feature “Homage To Thomas” – a collection of impressive works in a variety of mediums by the late Tom Yancey, one of Central’s most talented, iconic, and longest-tenured faculty, and “Photographic Splendor” – an array of beautiful and unique photographs by Debra Johnson of Glasgow.
All events are open to the public. To RSVP, please call Megan Freese at 660-248-6234 or email advance@centralmethodist.edu.
