CMU To Again Host 'Vagina Monologues,' Expects Large Crowd

Vagina MonologuesEach time it has been performed, Central’s Methodist University’s benefit production of the award-winning play, The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler, has drawn a full house in the Little Theatre on campus.

Due to its great popularity and success, CMU is bringing the play back for the fourth consecutive year. It will be performed at the Little Theatre both Thursday, Feb. 21 and Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged, which will benefit Safe Passage – a domestic violence and crisis intervention center located in Moberly, Mo.

Dr. Annette Van, associate professor of English at CMU, will co-direct an all-female cast composed of CMU students, faculty, and staff. The cast will read monologues based on a compilation of true stories told by women about their vaginas, with experiences ranging from surprising, to humorous, to emotional and heartbreaking.

The topics and language are recommended for a mature audience, as they may be considered offensive or inappropriate. CMU recommends researching the play prior to attending the production.
