The University Band will perform its first concert of the semester on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church at the Fayette campus.
The concert is free and open to anyone who would like to attend.
The University Band comprises students with great talent who don’t participate in Concert Band. Some of the students are music majors who take the opportunity to perform with instruments other than their primary ones.
The conductors for the concert include Skip Vandelicht, associate professor of music and director of bands; Steve Litwiller, adjunct professor of music; and Dr. Dori Waggoner, associate professor of music, dean of the Swinney Conservatory of Music, and chair of the Division of Fine Arts.
The program will include “Chant and Jubilo” by W. Francis McBeth; “Ammerland” by Jacob de Haan; “A Welsh Rhapsody” by Clare Grundman; “Il Re Pastore” by W.A. Mozart/Albert O. Davis; “Anthem for Winds and Percussion” by Claude T. Smith; “Eclipse Galop” by Karl King/Andrew Glover; and “Our Cast Aways” by Julie Giroux.
