Central Methodist University recently welcomed Andrea Waner to the Advancement and Alumni Relations team, where she has taken on the role of director of annual giving.
In the position, she is tasked with helping grow the Central Annual Fund through a variety of ways including faculty and staff giving, affinity giving, and alumni relations.
“I will design vertically integrated solicitation strategies focused on gifts from $1 to $999. Small donations from many donors is my main goal,” Waner said.
Before joining Central Methodist, Waner served as the communications manager for the Institute for People, Place, and Possibility in Columbia, which is a nonprofit organization working to create healthy, equitable, sustainable communities through data, technology, and community partnerships.
In addition to the valuable experience she received there, Waner currently serves as the chair of the City of Columbia Commission on Human Rights.
She looks forward to utilizing her skills for the benefit of Central.
“Serving in this capacity at CMU affords me the opportunity to not only work on causes I care about through expanding educational opportunities for all, but to make the advancement and success of others my full-time job,” she said. “I am excited to tell the story of the community and contribute to the long legacy of Central.”
Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations Josh Jacobs said his team is glad to welcome Waner to the Central family.
“Andrea brings a depth of non-profit experience to our efforts, and will be of great assistance as we continue to connect our alumni and friends to our mission,” he said.
Waner has a bachelor’s degree in English, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public affairs, both from the University of Missouri. She currently lives in Columbia with her husband, Joe Waner, CMU media and design coordinator, and their three-year-old son, Henry.
