Esports Preview Day Dec. 5

CMU Esports ArenaIt’s been an exciting year for Central Methodist University athletics, and a big piece of that excitement came from the kick off of an official eSports program, the completion of an impressive, state-of-the-art competition arena created just for its competitors, and an overwhelming interest in the newly introduced sport.

Now, high school students can attend an eSports Preview Day, which is designed to help them learn a little more about why eSports at CMU could be a great fit for them.

Central’s eSports Preview Day will be Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Inman Student and Community Center. It welcomes all prospective students who have an interest in the eSports program.

“This is a great event to showcase our program, and a great experience for students to see what it is like to play video games at the college level,” said Donald Sledge, eSports head coach.

The day will provide attendees with opportunities to meet with coaches and current players, tour campus and explore the gaming arena, learn about scholarships and the ins and outs of the program, and have lunch.

Central’s eSports team is currently recruiting high school students who play any of the following titles: Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League, Hearthstone, Madden, Fortnite, Paladins, and Smite.
