Central Methodist University students are making their way to the Fayette campus, prepared to tackle the 2018-19 academic year, with the first official day of classes on Monday, August 20.
It’s apparent that excitement is spreading, not only for the kick off of the fall semester, but for the unveiling of several enhancements on campus.
In addition to the multi-million dollar Stedman Hall of Science renovations being nearly complete, incoming students are thrilled to get their hands on their own personal iPads – thanks to CMU’s Digital U initiative.
Digital U provides on-campus students with iPads to advance their academic experience as the campus transforms into a digital learning environment. Such a transformation allows for easy connections with peers, clubs, athletics, fine arts, and campus activities; faster, smarter, and more collaborative learning, with Apple TVs in every classroom and laboratory; the option of printed textbooks or e-textbooks, plus so much more.
In addition to Stedman Hall and Digital U excitement, students have plenty of fun activities to keep them busy the first few days before classes began. They have opportunities to participate in orientations, dinners, comedic entertainment held in the Little Theatre, and other gatherings.
Upcoming activities for students include Dinner at the President’s Home, Convocation – an annual welcome event for students, athletic competitions, as well as opportunities to go shopping and to movie theatres.
Central’s annual Fair on the Square, which welcomes students to make friends and become acquainted with the Fayette community, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27.
