Summer Music Camp July 1-3

Central Methodist University is offering an opportunity for junior high and high school music students to attend a Summer Music Camp on CMU’s main campus in Fayette.

The event will take place Sunday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 3, and welcomes students from grades 7-12 for band, and grades 8-12 for choir. The deadline to register is Tuesday, June 12.

Those who attend will participate in a band or choir, an ensemble, and also receive individualized, private instruction. Clinicians will include University professors, as well as carefully selected high school music teachers.

Rehearsals and lessons will be held in Classic Hall and the Swinney Conservatory of Music, and meals will be served in the Bergsten Dining Hall – all on the CMU campus.

For students planning to stay on campus, the price is $200, which covers tuition, instruction, insurance, access to the swimming pool, room and board, and a camp T-shirt. For local students who would like to commute, the price is $140, which covers tuition, instruction, insurance, pool access, meals, and a camp T-shirt.

Participants staying on campus will be housed in Holt and Howard-Payne Residence Halls, and will be supervised by CMU music education students and residential life staff.

A scholarship of $30 will be applied to the camp fee for anyone who was selected for an all-district high school band or choir ensemble, or all-district junior high band during the 2017-18 school year.

Students should bring their personal instrument and appropriate supplies, comfortable clothes and shoes, swimsuits, and umbrellas, as well as sheet sets, pillows, and personal toiletries for those staying in the dorms.

Additionally, when camp concludes, participants will perform in a concert, so they should bring nice shorts/pants to wear with their camp T-shirt for the performance.
