Golf Tournament July 13 In Versailles

Central Methodist University’s 28th annual Dr. James Luetjen Golf Tournament will be held Friday, July 13 at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Versailles.

The tournament started in 1991 to honor Dr. James Luetjen, professor emeritus of CMU. It is a four-person scramble that will begin with registration at 9 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m. All players will be treated to a barbecue lunch, dessert, and a day of fun on the links.

“This tournament is a great event to honor the dedication James Luetjen has had to Central Methodist over the years,” said CMU Athletic Director Brian Spielbauer.
Special contests throughout the day will include hole-in-one, closest to the pin, longest drive, and longest putt competitions.
Rolling Hills Country Club is a member-owned, semi-private club that is open to the public. It features an 18-hole golf course that is over 6,500 yards from the longest of five sets of tees. The newest set of tees are the Green and the Pink, to give senior men and women a shorter option.

The course plays to a par of 71 over gently rolling terrain that makes it a great course to walk, and is often more playable for seniors and children. It also provides more than enough challenges with three lakes, several bunkers, native grass hazards that border most holes, and smooth and challenging greens.

The Club also has a natural grass driving range and practice green located directly in front of the pro-shop. The pro-shop is stocked with a selection of shoes, golf balls, clubs, and clothing.
