World-renowned vocal tenor Jeff Francis, CMU class of 1980 will be giving a master class to CMU vocal music students on Thursday, May 3 from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Kountz Recital Hall on the Fayette campus.
Francis is on campus to receive a Distinguished Alumni Award on Saturday, May 5. He offered to work with the students and the offer was gladly accepted. The students who have been chosen to work with Francis are vocalists Josh Stettes (junior music education major from Pacific), Marissa Dickman (freshman music education major from Maryland Heights), Rachel Martin (junior music education major from Fayette), and Gannon Craig (senior music education major from Salem). Francis will work one-on-one with each student while others observe.
Dr. Melissa Simons and Mary Jane Nance will accompany the students.
Also performing will be DaSean Stokes’17, current CMU fine arts admission counselor. He earned a Bachelor of Music Performance in Voice and is currently working on his master’s degree.
