Central Methodist University recently announced the hiring of Uyen Tran as the new sports information director for Eagle Athletics.
The Des Moines, Iowa native obtained her master’s degree at CMU, serving as a graduate assistant in the Athletics/Sports Information Department. She was the primary contact for volleyball, women’s basketball, and softball, and also was involved in graphic design, statistics, and game-day operations during that time.
"Uyen has done a terrific job since her initial arrival in the fall of 2016," said Brian Spielbauer, CMU athletic director. "Her work ethic and dependability have been proven to everyone. I truly believe she will do a tremendous job continuing and building on the many successes we have seen within the department over the last two years.”
As sports information director, Tran will be responsible for the promotion of varsity and reserve athletic programs, while serving as the primary contact for all public and sports media relations. Maintenance of the athletics website, press releases, publication design, and statistics are other key elements of her position.
“I am excited to continue the success of the Sports Information Department,” Tran said. “I look forward to working with the coaches and staff in the promotion of the athletic programs.”
Tran earned her bachelor’s degree in business management and sports administration from William Penn University, and was a member of the basketball team.
