Wilken Neas And Hankins To Present Senior Recital

Two outstanding Central Methodist University musicians will be presenting their senior recital on Friday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kountz Recital Hall on the Fayette campus.

Kay Wilken Neas, a student of Dr. Susan Quigley-Duggan, will be singing, while Tiffany Hankins, a student of Dr. Ron Shroyer, will be playing the saxophone. Both will begin student teaching shortly.

Mezzo-soprano Wilken Neas from Cole Camp will perform the following repertoire. “Dream Valley” and “Over the Land is April,” both by Roger Quilter; “Chi vuol la zingerella” by Giovanni Paisiello; “Verdi prati” by Georg Friedrich Handel; “Er, der Herrlichste von allen” and “Seit ich ihn gesehen,” both from Frauen-Liebe und Leben by Robert Schumann; and “Mandoline” and “Mai,” both by Gabriel Fauré.

Saxophonist Tiffany Hankins from Clifton Hill will perform on baritone saxophone “Sonata VI” by Johann Galliard; and on alto saxophone “Sonata No. 5” by Giovanni Platti. She will also perform on baritone sax “Concert Piece” by Burrill Phillips, with a saxophone quartet accompaniment.

The saxophone quartet accompaniment is made up of Matthew Johnson (a senior music education major from Pacific) on soprano sax; Josh Miller (a senior music education major from Waynesville) on alto sax; Josh Stettes (a sophomore education major from Pacific) on tenor sax; and Jo Ellen Shroyer, adjunct professor of music, on baritone sax.

Collaborative pianists will be Mary Jane Nance for Wilken Neas and Janet O’Neill for Hankins.

Both Wilken Neas and Hankins perform this recital as partial fulfillment of their requirements for the Bachelor of Music Education degree.
