For the fourth year in a row, the women of Central Methodist University are producing Eve Ensler’s documentary The Vagina Monologues. The show will be on Thursday, Feb. 1, and Friday, Feb. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at The Little Theatre on the Fayette campus.
The show is free, but donations will be accepted to support Safe Passage Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention Services near Moberly.
The provocative show is based on a series of conversations Ensler had with women about their self-images, experiences, and sexuality. The show is adult-oriented in content and language, and bringing children to it is discouraged. Following the production, the audience will be invited to remain for a discussion with the actors and with members of Safe Passage.
Making up the cast will be the following students, faculty, and staff from CMU, and United Methodist ministers: Precious Kamudzandu (freshman pre-declared major from Lee’s Summit); Jenny Barnett (junior theatre arts major from St. Louis); Raelynn Henson (sophomore pre-health major from Houston, Texas); Hannah Criswell (freshman biology major from Kennett);
Dr. Beth Gold, associate professor of psychology; Rev. Kayla Kelly, CMU campus chaplain; Marchya Jackson (freshman education major from Salisbury); Bailey Stevens (freshman criminal justice major from Glasgow); Jaiden Preston (freshman pre-declared major from Kennett); Whitney Bias (sophomore communications major from Versailles);
Myriah Araiza (junior theatre arts major from Columbia); Katelyn Watts (freshman education major from Louisiana); Audrey Brandon (freshman psychology major from Moberly); Cathy Thogmorton, CMU editor of Talon magazine; and Rev. Sarah Wimberley, senior pastor Northern Boulevard United Methodist Church in Independence; and Abby Addleman, senior double major in religion and church leadership and in communications from Cape Girardeau.
