Guest Recital Presented At Central Methodist University

Three music teachers and professional performers will join forces to present a musical guest recital at Central Methodist University on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the Willie Mae Kountz Recital Hall in the Swinney Conservatory of Music on the Fayette campus.

The recital is free and open to the public.

The performers include Steve Litwiller on clarinet, Paul Copenhaver on trumpet, and Kelley Head on piano. They will play a wide range of music, including works by H. L. Clarke, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, and Robert Schumann.

Litwiller is currently adjunct professor of music at CMU. He performs regularly with the Sauerkraut Serenaders, the Prevailing Winds Quintet, and the Roadkill Clarinet Quintet. He is the artistic director of the Thespian Hall Conservatory Band of Boonville and was director of bands for the Boonville Public Schools from 1983-2013.

Copenhaver was director of bands for the Moberly Public Schools for 33 years and currently teaches band at Moberly’s St. Pius X School. He performs with the Sauerkraut Serenaders, Harmonium Brass, the ShowMe Brass Band, and the Thespian Hall Conservatory Band. He is also the principal conductor of the Columbia Community Band.

Head is an adjunct professor of music at CMU and collaborative pianist. She also teaches choir and general music at Moberly’s St. Pius X School. She performs with the Prevailing Winds Quintet and the Thespian Hall Conservatory Band. She also serves as the organist and accompanist for the Presbyterian Church of Fulton.
