Two submitted entries from Central Methodist University’s Eagle Radio Station have been named as finalists in the 2017-18 College Awards from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS).
One finalist is in the category of Best Use of Sound Effects. Central’s entry is “Life is better with music,” submitted by Tori Brown, a freshman from Mount Vernon, Mo.
The second finalist is in the category of Best Station Contest/Promotion. Central submitted “Freestyle Frenzy Contest” by Keona Smith, a junior psychology major from Columbia, Mo.
Dr. Kristen Cherry, associate professor of communication at CMU, is the sponsor of CMU’s radio station.
The winners of the awards will be announced at a spring national conference in New York City. The IBS is an organization of more than one thousand non-profit, education-affiliated radio stations and webcasters. It was founded in 1940 and represents more than 90 percent of the current national, educational radio stations.
