Mann And Williams To Present Senior Recital

Ethan Mann and Michael Williams will perform their senior music recital on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Willie Mae Kountz Recital Hall at the Swinney Conservatory of Music on Central Methodist University’s Fayette campus.

The recital will be a bit different from most. It will be all percussion, as both seniors are music education majors with specialties in percussion instruments. Mann is from Pacific, Mo., and Michael Williams is from Knob Noster. Their major professor is Brian Tate, adjunct professor of music at CMU.

The program will offer works for timpani, marimba, snare, and other percussion instruments. The repertoire will include “Animism” by Stephen Ridley; “Land” by Takatsugu; “The Love of L’Histoire” by Charles Delancy; “Restless” by Rich O’Meara; “Spur” by Ivan Trevino; “Engine Room” by James Campbell; “Memento” by Ivan Trevino; and “The Gilded Cage” by Susan K. Powell.

Mann and Williams will be assisted by additional percussionists Brendan Wiesehan, a junior music education major from Villa Ridge, and Rachel Dorman, a junior biology major from Jefferson City.

Both principals offer this recital as part of their requirements for the Bachelor of Music Education degree at Central Methodist University.
