Josh Miller To Present Senior Music Recital

Saxophonist Josh Miller will present his senior music recital on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at 4 p.m. in the Kountz Recital Hall at the Swinney Conservatory of Music on Central Methodist University’s Fayette campus.

The recital is free and open to the public.

Miller is a music education major from Waynesville. He presents this recital as partial requirement for his Bachelor of Music Education degree. He has studied with Dr. Ron Shroyer, emeritus dean of the Conservatory and professor of woodwinds.

For his part of the recital, Miller will play a piece composed by Shroyer called “It’s Either a Song or a Dance” with movements of “Hoedown,” “Song with Furbelows,” and “Blues.” He will also be performing “Concertino da Camera” by Jacques Ibert; “Solo for Alto Saxophone and Piano” by Bernhard Heiden; “Passepied” from Suite Bergamasque by Claude Debussy; and “Galliwogg’s Cakewalk,” also by Debussy.

Miller will be assisted by Dr. Melissa Simons, CMU assistant professor of music and collaborative accompanist. He will be joined as well by friends Michael Arnold, a junior music education major from Marceline, on euphonium; and by Adam Christal, a junior music education major from Boonville, on clarinet.
