#GivingTuesday, a global day of giving on Tuesday, Nov. 28, will be celebrated for a third year by Central Methodist University.
Just like last year, a local donor has agreed on a gift up to $25,000 to match all gifts made to CMU on #GivingTuesday. Alumni, friends, faculty and staff joined together to raise $57,395 from 98 donors, earning the $25,000 match for a total of $82,395 to the Central Annual Scholarship Fund.
#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, to kick-off the holiday giving season. The goal is to inspire people to improve their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the causes they support.
As a new initiative this year, the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations will be welcoming members of the community, as well as faculty and staff, to stop by their office on the third floor of Brannock Hall at CMU’s main campus in Fayette between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to help make the day a success. Volunteers will write thank you notes, record messages about why they give to CMU, and enjoy lunch with the Alumni Relations team.
Those interested in joining CMU’s #GivingTuesday initiative can make a giftor stop by during the open house at CMU on #GivingTuesday. For more information, contact Jackie Jackson at jsjackson@centralmethodist.edu or call 660-248-6239.
