Three music teachers — Dr. Laura Wiebe, Central Methodist University assistant professor of music, Warner Bailey, choir director at Boonville High School, and Vanessa Miner, choir director at Fayette High School — have been awarded a grant to facilitate a performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria this spring.
The performance will include both high school choirs plus the Conservatory Singers from Central Methodist University, conducted by Dr. Wiebe. The groups will unite to present Gloria on Sunday, April 22, at Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on CMU’s Fayette campus, and again on Sunday, April 29, at Thespian Hall in Boonville.
Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Both performances will be open to the public and free to attend.
The Presidents’ Grant from the Missouri Choral Directors Association for $1,500, allows the three choirs to hire an orchestra to accompany them and their student soloists.
The Missouri Choral Directors Association Presidents’ Grant was created in 2015 for the betterment of choral music programs throughout the state of Missouri through a generous gift from MCDA Past-President Noel Fulkerson.
