Central Methodist University senior Susan Bishop, from Fayette, will be performing her senior music recital on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. in the Koontz Recital Hall on the CMU campus.
Bishop has a major in music education. She is a versatile musician, but her major instrument is French Horn. She will be joined that afternoon by senior Josh Goggin, who is presenting a special recital. Goggin is a music education major from St. Louis with a minor in business.
Bishop’s professor is Dr. John Perkins, CMU professor of high brass. Goggins’ professor is Dr. Susan Quigley-Duggan, CMU professor of voice and opera. They will be assisted by Dr. Melissa Loehnig Simons, assistant professor of music, and Mary Jane Nance as collaborative accompanists, respectively.
Bishop will perform “Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major” by Richard Strauss; “Nocturno Op. 7” by Franz Strauss; and “Morceau de Concert” by Camille Saint-Saëns.
Goggin will perform “Dolente imagine de Fille mia” by M. Fumaroli; “Per pieta, bell’idol mio” by Pietro Metastasio; “Die Forelle” by Franz Schubert; “Was Ist Sylvia” by Franz Schubert; “Bois Epais” by Jean-Baptise Lully; “Lydia” by Gabriel Fauré; “I’ll Sail Upon the Dog Star” by Henry Purcell; “Silent Noon” with lyrics by Dante Gabriel Rossetti and music by Ralph Vaughan Williams; and “Fear No More the Heat O’ the Sun” with lyrics by William Shakespeare and music by Roger Quilter.
Bishop performs her senior recital as partial fulfillment of the requirements of her Bachelor Degree in Music Education.
