It was business as usual in several Central Methodist University classrooms on Wednesday, Sept. 29 – but this day, in particular, had something special about it.
Two successful CMU alumni who have made names for themselves in the business world returned to their alma mater to give advice to business students, and shine light on the do’s and don’ts they’ve learned over the years.
Pat Brackley (’71) and Stephen Percy (’70) became great friends during their time as Central students. They both graduated then-Central Methodist College with business degrees. While they went on to lead very different lives, they kept in touch, provided each other with support, and found vast success in their areas of business.
“We keep each other balanced, and we hold each other accountable,” Brackley said of Percy.
The two gave a presentation for three different business classes, and covered everything from individual responsibility and following the right path, to 401ks, investments, and business ethics.
Brackley, who came to Central from Stamford, Conn. and now resides in Mandeville, La., is the owner of Brackley Construction in Mandeville. He also owns Fort Knox – a company that builds controlled environment storage facilities. Brackley is engaged, has four children, and 10 grandchildren.
Percy, from St. Louis, is the vice president and senior financial advisor at Merrill Lynch in St. Louis. Merrill Lynch is a wealth management division of Bank of America. He is married, and has three children and two grandchildren.
