Area residents are invited to attend the annual Fair on the Square to greet returning Central Methodist University students and meet new ones.
The festivities are from 5:30-7 p.m. on and around the Courthouse Square on Tuesday, Aug. 22, moved backwards a day due to the solar eclipse on the 21st.
Activities will include tables set up by local organizations, shops, and churches, tables from CMU organizations, and song fests by the music fraternities Sigma Alpha Iota and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, as well as games and other activities for kids of all ages.
“We are looking forward to having our annual Fair on the Square event,” said Mark Stone, assistant dean of student engagement. “It’s a great time for the community and businesses to welcome back the CMU students. This event has been a tradition that has gone on for over 15 years,” he said, “and we are excited to see everyone.”
This opportunity provides a chance for Howard Countians to demonstrate how much they welcome and look forward to interacting with the students during the year. Classes will have begun the day before.
