An annual fall rite of return for Central Methodist University-Fayette students is being planned. Set for Tuesday, August 22, the gathering, Fair on the Square, is an opportunity for students to meet and get to know people both on the campus and in the community.
Students, who will have just begun classes the previous day, are being invited to the Howard County Courthouse Square at around 5:30 p.m. and will have dinner, supplied by CMU’s Fresh Ideas in the fresh air of the square.
Churches, businesses, and organizations from in and around Fayette are encouraged to use this opportunity to join the hubbub and set up tables and chairs to invite students to get to know them. CMU is encouraging groups to provide their own tables and chairs due to the number of people expected, according to Mark Stone, assistant dean of student engagement.
Those who wish to join in and set up a spot to talk to students are requested to RSVP to Stone by Friday, Aug. 18. He may be reached at 660-248-6387 or by email.
Games and activities designed for students of all ages will be set up, and students will be expected to be around the courthouse until around 7 p.m.
