27 July 2017
Central Methodist University has hired Suzanne Hickman as the academics operations coordinator for CMU’s Office of the Provost.
Prior to joining CMU, Hickman – an Eldon native who now resides in Columbia – was the assistant director of campus support at Columbia College. Before that, she also held positions at Columbia College including executive assistant, as well as secretary/administrative assistant.
“I am excited to have Suzanne in our offices,” said CMU Provost Rita Gulstad. “She has already hit the ground running and is excited about each new project she begins. I am so appreciative of her knowledge and expertise as she takes on this new role.”
As the academic operations coordinator, Hickman’s primary responsibilities include creating course schedules, updating and editing catalogs, overseeing faculty promotion and tenure processes, creating and maintaining academic calendars, and processing academic forms and policies.
She also will assist with institutional compliance and regulatory issues, supervise Clearinghouse and degree audit activities, oversee and coordinate office functions with the Registrar, coordinate faculty professional development activities, and much more.
“I love being a part of helping someone achieve their academic goals. To me, higher education is about more than earning a degree; it is about encouraging personal development,” Hickman said.
“I am excited to be a part of an organization that emphasizes both academic and personal growth. My new position provides me the opportunity to continue my own growth, and I am eager to be a positive resource for CMU faculty, staff and students.”
Hickman received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Columbia College, and a Master of Education degree from William Woods University.
Her work will contribute to both CMU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), and College of Graduate and Extended Studies (CGES), which includes its graduate, off-campus, and online programming.
