The newest member of Central Methodist University’s Technology Services team plays a big part in ensuring CMU computer systems run smoothly and remain top notch.
Venustiano “tAno” Mateu has been hired as the new systems analyst for CMU. In his position, he provides technical expertise in the setup, implementation, and maintenance of the University’s administrative database system, and related applications that support mission-critical resources for business operations.
“I’m so excited to work for CMU because it feels like a big home here,” Mateu said. “Everyone is so helpful and willing to collaborate with all the teams across the University.”
Mateu received his Bachelor of Science Degree in computer systems engineering from Veracruz Institute of Technology in Veracruz, Mexico. He is CompTIA A+ certified, and also Computer Forensics certified.
He has a solid professional background of IT experience including project, systems, network, and service management, as well as sales. Before coming to CMU, he worked for GE Capital Solutions as an IT manager for approximately 14 years.
In that position, he led a team of technical professionals to provide IT, telephony, and project support for 210 clients across Missouri, Iowa, and Mexico.
Before becoming the IT manager, Mateu worked for GE as an IT project leader, and then an IT team leader. He led teams as they worked to improve service and response time for critical technical operations, and devised and executed comprehensive project plans. He also designed and delivered intensive customer training modules, and coordinated remote system coverage and support activities.
Of course, these accomplishments only touch upon the many skills he developed over the years – the skills so many at CMU were excited to bring on board.
“tAno’s diverse technical skill set, coupled with his past experience in a customer service role, represents a great addition to our existing team and for the University,” said Chad Gaines, vice president for technology and planning at CMU.
Mateu is originally from Veracruz, Mexico. He currently lives in New Franklin with his wife, Angela, and eight-year-old daughter, Lucy.
