The Social Sciences Division at Central Methodist University recently honored six students for academic achievements during the 2016-17 school year.
Awards were given during a ceremony held before Commencement on Saturday, May 13, according to Dr. Elizabeth Gold, associate professor of psychology and chair of the Social Sciences Division.
Nickie Foland, a communication major from Fayette, was the recipient of two awards. He won both the Communication Department Student Media Award and the Pi Gamma Mu Award for Scholastic Excellence.
Other winners were Miranda Dahman, an English and history double major from Harrisonville, with the Dr. Harold Sunoo Award for Excellence in History and Political Science; Patricia Fleischmann, an applied behavior analysis and psychology double major from Arnold, with the Award for Excellence in Psychology;
Jamie Gisburne, a communication studies and computer science double major from Fort Myers, Fla., with the Martin E. Kooi Memorial Award for Excellence in Communication Studies; Kelsey Swearngin, a psychology and sociology double major from Oak Grove, with the Dr. Robert Barker Award for Excellence in Sociology; and Brittany Winkler, a criminal justice major from Macon, with the Award for Excellence in Criminal Justice.
